Get-up-and-go breakfast

If you follow me on Instagram (@cookinginthenook) you will notice I post my morning smoothie quite regularly.

It’s all in the method when it comes to smoothie making, and this formula never fails for me to create a thick, fruity start to my day.

– 1 frozen banana

– 80g berries (fresh or frozen  – I get the frozen ones out the night before)

– 2 tbsp natural yoghurt

– 1 tbsp oatmeal

– 1/2 tbsp pea protein

– 250ml milk

My blender is the Basics model from a local supermarket and it does the job just fine. The protein is the most expensive component but you don’t really need it. I like to have it because I already have it in the cupboard and it fills me up after running. The other ingredients are some of the cheapest you can get, especially at this time of year when berries are in season, and yet a smoothie in the morning always feels decadent. Enjoy.
